John Managh and Mary Hamilton are the co-owners of Wilderness Motorhomes.
John
John has travelled, worked, and lived in far-flung corners of the world - from the outback in Australia to the Aleutian Islands of Alaska and the deserted mountains of central Africa. He worked on crab boats, converted a Scania truck for an overland journey across the Sahara Desert all the while enjoying the company of locals everywhere.
After an eight year travelling stint and a storybook full of adventures, John returned to Aotearoa to do what he does best - designing and building recreational vehicles for exploring New Zealand in and leading a company with people he really believes in.
Whether he's exploring new ideas or belting out an opera tune, John always has a smile on his face. He has a real empathy for what makes travel memorable and would do anything to make someone laugh. His passion for life and heart-felt values inspired by his dad means the whole company benefits. Day in day out, he inspires a team of employees, treats them like mates and unconditionally respects them.
Outside office hours, he can be found playing guitar, windsurfing and discovering the things you never knew existed.
Mary
Mary has considerable experience in business management and successful family businesses. Passionate about what makes a difference for her customers and communities, Mary spent many years in business with her dad Keith learning the ropes before embarking on the Wilderness journey.
Being no stranger to adventures, Mary has spent time hiking in the Rockies, cross-country skiing in sub-zero temperatures and enjoying the ocean from above and below the waterline. Be it land, sea, or free falling from 12,000ft, Mary loves the outdoors and whenever time permits, you can find her deep in the Wilderness exploring with her husband and family of three kids.
After a career in occupational therapy, Mary returned from Canada to start a family and tackle new challenges. With a university degree to be proud of and wisdom from dad close to her heart, Mary teamed up with her brother, John, to create one of the best companies in the world.
