Another shake in Christchurch

Friday, 23 December 2011

You may have heard that Christchurch experienced three major aftershocks today 23 December.  The Wilderness base and team were unaffected by the quakes and we remain open and fully operational.  The Christchurch airport was closed briefly while full safety checks were conducted but has now reopened and flights have resumed.

While further damage has been done to some already damaged buildings, lives have been spared and injuries are minimal.  As in the aftermath of February and September 10 quakes, we recommend to Wilderness hirers to collect your campervan as planned and head out of Christchurch.  The effects of the quake are very localised to Christchurch itself.  The surrounding areas as well as the remainder of the South Island are unaffected.  For more information, go to http://www.christchurchnz.com/plan-your-visit/christchurch-earthquake-update.aspx.

The Wilderness team have a very warm welcome in store.   If you have any concerns or questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

New Zealand campervan hire and motorhome rental

Winner – Traveller Voted Awards Motorhomes/ Campervans/ RV section 2009, 2010 Winner – Traveller Voted Awards Supreme Award 2010

So you’re planning a New Zealand road trip? There’s no better way to experience New Zealand the way the locals do than to hire a Wilderness motorhome. In case you hadn’t heard, there’s much more to the North Island and the South Island than stunning scenery.

For us, camper holidays in NZ are about tuning your ear to the sound of a native bird, having a brew with a local and watching the sun sink below the horizon in a remote spot. We will show you New Zealand from the inside. Our Adventure Support team will help you plan your trip and answer Gold Award for Environmental Commitment your questions using their inside knowledge.

Because our motorhomes are not emblazoned with “rent me” signage warning everyone a tourist is approaching, you will blend in with the locals. You’ll find Kiwis stopping to chat. They’ll let you in on the best places to stop and explore.

When you travel with us, you're part of the family – we look after you. But don’t take my word for it, read what other travelers have said about us on the independent travel review website Rankers.
