Wilderness Dart

The Dart is just new to our fleet. It’s for adventurers who want the same quality that the Wilderness Base Jumper is renown for but who are travelling on a smaller budget. Because it’s smaller and has fewer ‘whiz bang’ gadgets it’s not going to put such a big dent in your travel fund.

Because it’s built on a grunty VW T5 van, it drives just like a car and can park anywhere. That’s why we called it the Dart – it’s light and quick. It’s the Dart that will be leading the pack along New Zealand’s most scenic highways.

Size does matter. You’ll be pleasantly surprised how much living space there is in a Dart. Because we didn’t have to fit in lots of beds, you get unencumbered floor space, usable seating, and plenty of accessible storage.

The Dart is ideal for camping at campsites with amenities most of the time. You can stay at any of the full-on camper’s resorts or campsites with basic amenities such as the Department of Conservation (DOC) park campsites. You can even have the occasional night freedom camping where freedom camping is permitted. The onboard portable toilet means you can "go" if you need to and are not near a campground or public toilet and the outside shower allows you to have a quick rinse off if needed. It comes with an electric heater which works when plugged into 240v power and optional sleeping bags if you’re travelling in winter.
