We spent a wonderful two weeks in Nov/Dec 2013 traveling around South Island and a quick hop into North Island to visit friends in Taupo. Travelling in a campervan is the best way to see and experience all New Zealand has to offer.
Wilderness Motorhomes is our first choice when it comes to the best camper experience. Here are our favourite three spots.
Mount Ruapehu - this photo was taken on our way to Taupo driving up the busy SH1. There was a cycle race on in Taupo so the road was very busy. I had to beg my husband to pull over so I could get this photo of the mountain almost shrouded in thick cloud.
On the way to Haast - We had stopped for lunch at a roadside rest area on our way to to Haast. Its easy in a campervan to pull over somewhere scenic and quiet to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and toasted sandwiches. The light on the mountains in the distance brought them to life.
The Shotover - We spent 3 days in amazing Queenstown. We had taken a jetboat ride on the Shotover earlier in the day which was thrilling. Its a must do experience on the iconic Shotover River.
