Are there any roads that Wilderness motorhomes can't travel on?

No, we don’t have any specific road restrictions or a blacklist of roads that our insurance doesn't cover.

Because we want you to be able to get off-the-grid to explore the real New Zealand.

Having said that, there are some roads in New Zealand that large vehicles like motorhomes shouldn’t travel on — such as Skippers Road near Queenstown.

You’ll be covered by our standard insurance on conservation campsite access roads and most other named roads. You won’t be covered if you drive:

  • On a beach
  • Through a river or in saltwater
  • Where there’s signage indicating that the road isn’t suitable for larger vehicles like motorhomes
  • On a road that’s in such poor condition that it causes damage to the motorhome.
