AdBlue low warning light (amber with smoke and droplets) illuminates

This AdBlue low warning light is an amber symbol showing smoke with water droplets. It means the AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) needs refilling. AdBlue is required for the emissions reduction system to function properly. The warning light typically illuminates with about 5 litres remaining - enough to reach the closest service station. Important: If the tank runs completely dry, the vehicle will not start until it’s fully topped up.

Diagnostics & Steps to Resolve:

AdBlue low warning light
  1. Purchase AdBlue. Visit a service station that sells AdBlue (also called Go Clear or Diesel Exhaust Fluid). It is available either at the pump or in bottles (typically 1L or 5L sizes). If unsure, use the Gaspy app to locate a service station nearby.

  2. Locate the AdBlue filler cap. On the passenger side of the vehicle, you’ll find two filler caps behind the fuel door: one is black (diesel), the other is blue (AdBlue). Open the blue cap only.

  3. Fill the AdBlue tank. Pour slowly to avoid spillage and overspilling. If using:

    1. Pump: Insert the nozzle and fill until it clicks off automatically

    2. Bottle: Use the attached funnel/spout and pour one bottle (or until full)

  4. Secure the cap and close the fuel door. Ensure the blue cap clicks firmly into place.

  5. Start the engine. The warning light should turn off within a few seconds. If it remains on after driving briefly, contact us at +64 9 255 5300.
