Grey water drains slowly at the dump station

The grey water tank empties by gravity. If the discharge hose has any uphill sections, loops, or kinks, the flow will slow or stop. The fix is to create a smooth, continuous downward slope from the motorhome’s grey water outlet to the dump station drain.

Diagnostics & Steps to Resolve:

  1. Prepare the area
    a. Park safely with handbrake on and engine OFF
    b. Remove the grey water outlet cap

  2. Open and inspect
    a. Fully open the grey water outlet valve
    b. Check the hose for kinks, sharp bends, or squashed sections and straighten them

  3. Create a continuous downward slope
    a. Lay the hose from the outlet to the drain with no rises along the run
    b. Shorten the hose to only the length you need (avoid coils or loops)
    c. If the hose still runs uphill, reposition the vehicle closer to the drain to reduce sag

  4. Assist the flow
    a. Lift the hose near the outlet so the entire hose sits on a gentle downward angle to the drain

  5. Finish up
    a. When flow reduces to drips, close the outlet valve
    b. Replace the outlet cap, stow the hose, and rinse the area if required by the dump station rules
