Travel updates for domestic guests

The New Zealand Government has announced that New Zealand will remain at COVID-19 Alert Level 2 until 11:59pm Sunday, 6 September.

If your travel has been impacted as a result of these alert level changes, your booking can be held in credit to use towards future travel. See below for more information.


Our Auckland Base is Open

Our Auckland baseis operating as normal under alert level 2 restrictions with social distancing and contact tracing measures in place. Read the FAQ section below for more information.


Our Christchurch Base is Open

Our Christchurch base will continue to operate as normal under alert level 2 restrictions with social distancing and contact tracing measures in place.


New Bookings

Our reservations team will continue to work 7 days a week so that you can secure your post lockdown booking. We have worked hard to give you the confidence to book the risk out of booking your road trip. Deposits are now refundable* up until 7 days prior to pick up. Should there be a lockdown affecting your ability to travel, we will waive cancellation fees for all guests who opt for a credit for the full amount paid to be used on a future booking. Travel updates for international guests

The New Zealand government has placed temporary restrictions foreign nationals arriving in the country as a precautionary measure to protect against the spread of COVID-19. See Ministry of Health for more information. Until these restrictions are lifted, we are unable to welcome  international visitors. 

For New Zealand residents who are able to travel, our Wilderness motorhomes are the perfect escape after the lockdown! They offer all the comfort and most of the facilities of a modern home plus they’re mobile. So you can stay safe on a motorhome holiday by maintaining your own bubble on wheels.  

Our bases in Auckland and Christchurch bases are open 7 days a week. Our adventure support team will be available to assist you in collecting your motorhome as safely and quickly as possible. At the end of your rental, you can return your motorhome using our contactless drop off service.

We urge you to support New Zealand in the post-Covid recovery phase. As a locally owned business, we strongly encourage Kiwis to explore your own backyard and buy local along the way.

To give you more confidence in making your travel plans, the 30% deposit to secure your booking is now fully refundable up until 7 days* prior to pick up.

*except for hires commencing between 1 December and 28 February

Making changes to your booking

We realise that due to current uncertainties, you may need extra flexibility with your booking. That's why we have amended our cancellation terms for all new bookings* so that you can cancel your booking at any time up to 7 days** before your rental without losing your deposit. More information.

Keeping you safe

The health and wellbeing of all our guests and team members is, as always, our top priority. Our motorhomes have always been thoroughly checked and prepared prior to each rental so that you feel safe and comfortable in the wilderness. Every motorhome receives a deep clean before each rental including disinfecting all surfaces with hospital grade cleaning products, sterilising cutlery, crockery, utensils, and pots and pans plus linen and towels using high temperature washing machines and sanitizers.

Since April 2020, we have put in place strict measures to keep everyone safe. These include:

  • increased cleaning and sanitizing of the public spaces and team spaces at our bases
  • educating our team to observe good hygiene practices including washing hands thoroughly with soap and water or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
    providing tissues, hand soap and hand sanitiser for all guests and our team
  • staying home if feeling unwell

We will continue to respond and adopt the recommended precautions based on the expert advice of the World Health Organization, local government, public health authorities and medical professionals to ensure we play our part in stopping the transmission of this virus.
